Confusion Surrounds The Status of Nollywood Actor Jnr Pope Following Drowning Tragedy
The status of Nollywood actor Junior Pope Odonwodo is now unknown following a drowning incident on set.
On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, the actor purportedly drowned in a boat accident while filming in Asaba, the Delta State capital, according to various reports, who also showed videos of his seemingly lifeless body.
However, Emeka Rollas, the national president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), stated late Wednesday that the actor was responding to medical treatment.
“What God cannot do does not exist. Junior Pope is alive. He is taking treatment in the hospital,” He shared on Instagram. However, he erased the message 30 minutes later, causing further confusion.
Two other unidentified members of the film’s production staff are also believed to have perished, although there has been no update on their status.
The incident occurred a few hours after Pope posted a video of himself on Instagram riding a wooden boat without a life jacket, presumably for a scene in the film he was starring in.
“See me lamenting. The risk we take to entertain you. Crossing river 9ja yesterday with no life jacket. Na wahoooooo. Who does that?,” Jnr Pope captioned the video.
